Tap 42 is your typical upscale American resteraunt with pricey food and (barely) passable drinks
Upon entering, Tap 42 gave off major “lets grab a casual drink after work” type vibes. The hostess was very friendly and welcoming, and my group was seated almost immediately after arriving.
The interior was very clean and modern, with extensive seating options at both the booth area and the wrap-around bar area
There was also a relatively large outdoor seating area for those who prefer it

Important info: In additon to the drinks, there were bar bites available during happy hour, but you have to be sitting at the bar to be able to order from that menu, and the entire bar was full when we first arrived.
Maui Wowie: This drink was very sweet with an extremely artificial flavor. It almost felt as if I was drinking pineapple gum. (4.5/10)
Spicy Greengo: This one was Mildly sweet with an underlying flavor of cucumber and jalapeño. However, it still contained an artificial compenent to it’s flavor that took what otherwise would’ve been an enjoyable drink and made it a lot less nice (6.5/10)
Don’t be a prick: This was an overall decent drink, but the fruit component once again tasted artificial, taking away from the overall flavor (6.5/10)
Mocha espresso: Overall a decent espresso Martini containing an underlying mocha/chocolate flavor as advertised, but again, nothing particulary special (6.5/10)
Smoked maple old fashioned: This drink was definitely my favorite of all the ones I got to try. To sum it up succinctly, It had a very pleasant smokey aroma with the taste of a standard old fashioned (7/10)
Final thoughts: Overall, this place had a nice atmosphere, but the good parts stop there. The drinks, while reasonably priced during happy hour ($10), all tasted very artificial and souless despite having promising descriptions. All things considered, I wasn’t very suprised by that fact considering Tap 42 is a chain and both of the bartenders were working faster than should be humanly possible to keep up with the many demands of the packed bar area. While I didn’t order any of the food, it was so expensive that I have a hard time believing it could be high enough quality to warrant the price. If you’re looking for a good happy hour in the davie area, this would be far from my first pick.
